Birthdays, Birthdays, and more Birthdays...

Part of my excuse for the extremely sparse nature of my posts since March 1 is that half our family had birthdays in March!  Suffice it to say that the little one who turned seven (but wished it was actually eight) and our new teenager both had great days.

Little Weed #4 has a vague recollection of celebrating his birthday once prior to entering the orphanage, so he was pretty excited about marking the event again with more than a "now you are 5...now you are 6..."  His only requests were that he have balloons and some friends sing to him and eat ice cream.  His wish was my command.  We had a few close friends over for a gourmet meal of hot dogs and chips followed by singing, cake and candles, and the all-important ice cream.

#4 celebrating #7

Ziggity was less specific in his requirements.  In fact, I let him take the reins and said he could celebrate in any way he wanted within reason.  As it turns out, he isn't all that grandiose in his planning abilities nor preferences.  He ended up having his best bud over to hang out at the house and just be teenaged boys.  Frisbee, video games, ping pong, and cookie cake.  Cool.

The third member of the family to celebrate in March was marking a milestone birthday.  A disappointing turn of events forced a change of plans to eliminate the family celebration we had planned, but the ever-resourceful birthday girl called an audible and got some girlfriends over for a movie night complete with popcorn bar.

So there you have it.  Three of us are one year older, wiser, and infinitely thankful for the time we've been given.
