The costumes were pressed.
The dress rehearsal had been a success.
The expectations were high.
The build up was immense.
The anticipation was nearly unbearable.
Sweet One attends countless baseball and basketball games for her brothers throughout the year. This dance recital is her one and only "shining moment." We try to make it a really special event for her. By midweek leading up to the performance, she said, "Mom, can you believe it's only three more days until my big day?" She couldn't have been more serious or more precious in that moment. It really was her big day, and she was going to bask in it.
She was excited about the stage, the performance, and her family's support, but she was even more excited because... she had fans. We had invited several of her favorite people to attend and she was thrilled that her favorites among those were able to be there. The recital was late in the evening and didn't end until after 10:30, but everyone hung in there till the bitter end. I think we all enjoyed the experience, but more importantly, Sweet One felt like the star of the show.
